POLL: Preston-Osborne Kentucky Gubernatorial

A new Preston-Osborne statewide survey
of 600 registered voters, “selected at random from a list of those who
have voted in at least three of the past five general elections” in Kentucky
(conducted 7/25 through 8/2 for The Lane Report) finds Steve Beshear
leading incumbent Gov. Ernie Fletcher (49% to 31%) in a statewide
gubernatorial general election match-up; 16% are undecided.

Fletcher is still getting beat up in the polls.  Could this be a sign of the final few months.

FRANKFORT –
All summer, SurveyUSA — an automated polling service — has shown Democratic candidate for governor Steve Beshear with more than a 20-point lead over Republican Gov. Ernie Fletcher.

Some of Fletcher’s supporters have dismissed that poll as wrong, saying that the results are skewed or that many people hang up on the computerized system, which throws off the sample of respondents.

But a new poll conducted by Lexington firm Preston- Osborne for The Lane Report magazine shows Beshear up by 18 points with 49 percent compared with Fletcher’s 31 percent and 16 percent undecided. Three percent refused to answer.
